The Rancher Takes a Cook by Misty Beller

Standard

A delightful, historical western by Misty M.Beller that will keep you turning pages. After the Civil War, Anna Stewart and her fifteen-year-old brother, Edward, find themselves all alone. Their parents have died and the family home and candle shop have been burned to the ground by Union soldiers. The only living relatives they have are in Texas. so they make their way to Seguin, Texas.  Soon they are living with the aunt and uncle in their mercantile store, where Anna helps, but her desire is to be able to support herself and her brother and not have to depend on her kin. Edward picks up odd jobs around town until a rancher offers him a full time job on a ranch.  When he tell his sister that he has been hired out on a ranch, she is horrified. Anna is afraid that he will be hurt as he is young and knows nothing about ranch work.
Anna, wanting to protect Edward heads to the ranch to tell the owner her brother will not be working for him, when she is offered the job to cook for the ranch, as a way to placate her and she can keep an eye on her brother. The two settle in and Anna meets the owner’s son, Jacob, who at once she is attracted to and he has the same feelings, but does not want a woman disrupting his life on the ranch.. The next year of Texas weather and cattle rustlers, wounded men and lots of hard work Anna proves herself to be a wonderful cook and a great asset to ranch life. Jacob finds that he really does want a woman in his life after all.  I love the way that God is included in their love story and how He is portrayed . A lovely inspirational Romance.
