Undaunted Hope (Beacons of Hope BOOK 3)

Jody Hedlund has written another novel in the Beacons of Hope series, Undaunted Hope, which is book 3, Readers will find this book very interesting and informative about lighthouses and the lighthouse keepers. Also about copper mining in the 1870’s in a remote coastal community in Michigan.    Tessa, a schoolteacher who is running away from her past misdeed, arrives at Eagle Harbor to become their next schoolteacher. Her first disappointment is that they were expecting a male teacher and she has to persuade the supervisor to hire her.
The town of Eagle Harbor is dominated completely by the corrupt chief clerk of Cole Mine—the town’s source of income and supplies. Percival Updegraff, superintendent and chief mine clerk is a very immoral man who  uses the wives of the workers as he wishes by threatening the lives of their husbands and children. The workers and their families refrain from standing up to this abusive boss for fear of retaliation. He lords over them and they submit because of what he will do to them and their families. He sets his sites on Tessa. Will Tessa be able to stand  against the evils that surround her. The two lightkeepers vie for Tessa’s affections. Which brother will she choose?

Alex Bjorklund, who is handsome and charming or his quieter widowed brother, Michael with two children that Tessa has fallen in love with. There are many twists and turns , suspense and danger through out but has a happy ending…….Thank you to Bethany House for my complimentary electronic Advance Reader Copy of Undaunted Hope, which I downloaded from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
